An Excerpt from 31-Day Soul Food Devotional

Psalm 37:25 I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

This year, 2020, I decided to leave a 25-year salaried teaching position. I had so many questions and doubts. How would I pay my bills? Will I still be able to financially assist my adult children and my immediate family? I used to be the provider for my family. But the Lord tells us through His word in Philippians 4:19: “And my God will supply all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” At 48 years old, I would have to completely put my trust in Jesus, not in my job, not in my husband, not in a paycheck. To make matters worse, I had just purchased a new home, and I had a house to sell. Then, the unimaginable happened, COVID-19.

For days, I was unable to sleep. Suddenly, something miraculous happened. A young white deer appeared in my back yard. I knew this was God speaking to me. I researched what were the chances of catching a glimpse of this unusual sight. Approximately 10 out of 300 deer are born with this unique trait. As I watched the young doe frolic in my backyard without a care in the world, the Lord began to minister to me. He said, “I will supply you with everything that you need.” The Lord is our strong tower. He and He alone is our provider. Trust God today, he will take care of you.

How has the Lord provided for you in times of trouble? How will you minister others when they are worried about the storms of life? What will you say to encourage and uplift their spirit?
