Today in my reflection time, I thought about the concept of rocks. We compare other objects to rocks because of their durability and sturdiness, as well as their ability to withstand the test of time. It is no wonder that the love that Jesus has for us is also compared to these structures. He will never leave us, nor will he forsake us. This is a promise that makes to his people.
I took a chance today to try my hand at a poetry form that I have never employed to express this kind of relationship. As you may know, the haiku is a form of poetry that was originated in Japan in the 13th century. It is unrhymed poetry with three lines possessing a 5-7-5 syllable pattern. This is very interesting because we know that the number 5 represents the grace of God, and the number seven represents divine completion and perfection. The kind of love that Christ has for us is not fake, but rather it is perfect and complete, full of grace and it can and will withstand the test of time. This is further expressed in Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the rock. His work is perfect, for all His ways are justice. A God of truth and without injustice, righteous and upright is He. Never doubt the love of the Father.
